While Rydia was getting more and more used to the Surface world, she also found some things... a bit ridiculous. The summoner couldn't genuinely understand why Kain would end up spending pretty much every evening writing on papers whatever he did with the rest of the dragoons instead of... well, doing anything else. Paperwork in general confused her, all that stuff was just going to be relegated between all the documents of the castle and forgotten.
"Mmmh..."
Her relationship with Kain was something neither of them expected, it just... sort of happened as they bonded over their common love for dragons. She loved spending time with him, especially when they could cuddle together on the bed or worked in the stables together, but… no, he was spending all his evenings at his desk, working.
Sweet Bahamuth, she was so bored whenever they had both to spend their time locked in the house and her only company was the dragoon’s back as he sat on the chair. She tried cooking, only to create some monstrosities and getting scolded (it wasn’t her fault she never cooked anything that wasn’t a bug, a monster of the depth or some kind of weird mushroom, the Feymarch was…. different.). She tried picking up knitting like Rosa suggested, only to throw her needles out of the window in frustration after hours of struggle. She even tried to pick up books but… everything Rosa gave her was all about love and incredibly boring.
She rolled over in their bed, annoyed, then finally decided that enough was enough. For one night she was going to… well, have her partner’s attention.
“Kain?” Rydia finally called, jumping out of bed and hopping in his direction. It didn’t matter if she was just in her night gown as she strolled across the house, did it? “Kain? Do you have a minute?” She finally asked, poking her head in his little study and finding him at his usual place..

Date: 2021-03-24 12:59 am (UTC)Kain was sitting at his desk reading the latest reports from the different factions in the Dragoons so that he could better access their capabilities and appropriately plan their training regimen. Squad A would need to work further on their jumps, but squad B was lacking in their lance work, and all the squads were suffering from some disciplinary problems. It was quite a headache in its own right, but if he could fill out his own reports he could then assign them where they would best be suited, help protect Baron better, and hopefully get to spend some time keeping Rydia from getting into too much mischief out of sheer boredom. Perhaps if he could teach her how to do this... no that was just a pipe dream, she'd probably never find his paperwork interesting.
He hadn't even looked up from his paperwork as she entered his study, trying his best to concentrate so that temptations wouldn't distract him from his vital work. It could wait until after he was finished... if he finished this evening... it could take him until morning knowing his luck. If only there were someone he could trust to delegate some of this to, but nobody had his experience when it came to this sort of thing, and he hadn't even finished his own reports for Cecil or Cid yet.
Some sinking suspicion in the back of his head told him that Rydia's presence would suggest it was going to turn a very long night of paperwork into a VERY long night indeed.
