At first, he considers just continuing to ignore Rydia. All he wants right now is to be left alone. More than anything, Kain wishes he could sneak away, go somewhere isolated and stay there on his own. He'd been tempted by the idea a few times already. He's finding it harder now to face his friends than ever before, especially after what he'd done. Again. It had been a terrible week, and the latest incident had been too much to bear. He can't believe he'd been so weak yet again. His friends had forgiven him yet again, but he's tired of this constantly happening. He can't believe he's fallen under mind control, lost his way, given in to his darkness...

It's too much. He can't take it. To add to it, he'd yet again been subjected to Cecil and Rosa basking in each other's company, seeing the two of them kiss and cuddle and lovingly tease one another, the two unable to keep their hands off each other. They're always holding hands or doing small romantic gestures toward each other. In fact, it's gotten worse since the couple got engaged. Kain is constantly reminded at every moment about Rosa's love for Cecil. Neither of them mean any harm or realize what they're doing to him, but it doesn't matter. His heart has been broken and stomped on one too many times. It's no wonder he'd been off guard enough to fall to his darker side. To make matters worse, he feels intensely guilty about these feelings... They're his friends, and he ought to feel happy for them. The fact that he can't share in their happiness makes him all the more upset at himself.

Kain clenches his fists and closes his eyes for a moment, holding them shut to attempt to keep back the tears that are threatening to start up. No. He can't give in to that, especially because he's not alone. He doesn't want Rydia to see him being so weak.

He doesn't turn around yet, knowing it's easier to hide his emotions if she can't see his face. But after a long silence, he realizes perhaps he should answer her. So he quietly mutters, "I guess..." Then he hopes that this will be the end of conversation, so he can deal with his misery in silence and relative solitude.
